I've fallen in love with this little old lady!

Hey guys,
So I’m writing this to you from the comfort (actually it’s not that comfortable at all!) of an overnight train which I’m taking from Berlin to Budapest. Seeing as I’m 5ft 10 and have been given the top bunk in my room, I’m having to write this with my head at a 90 degree angle. I can tell this is going to be one fun night…NOT!
In the very early hours of this morning I had the very great pleasure of meeting a new roommate in Berlin as she crashed into the room with her McDonalds and two suit cases. It was 2am and I’d literally just nodded off D: She then came on over to me to ask for the Wi-Fi and don’t think for a second that she was using hushed tones! I felt so sorry for the American girl staying in my room, she had to be up at 5am to catch her flight home! Was it rude of me for responding with “I don’t know, the password changes,”? Which it did, I wasn’t lying about that! I just couldn’t be arsed to fully wake up and get out my book from the locker with today’s internet details on it. I suppose karma paid me back in kind as she proceeded to leaving the room, slamming the door in her wake, a grand total of seven times. SEVEN! I could have decked her honestly but I was not leaving the warmth of my bed and to be truthful, I’ve never actually punched anyone before. I don’t know how I’d fair in a fight and was not willing to find out in another country.
On the plus side I met this girl Vitoria from Brazil who’s also heading to Budapest but by bus and we’re planning to meet up late tomorrow evening! She’s just graduated with a degree in Drama and was traveling round Europe to see different theatres and plays. Cool huh? I’ll be sure to let you know what we’ve gotten up to!
But, back to today, as you can imagine when I woke up at a proper time I was not in the cheeriest of moods. Anyone that knows me and knows me well, knows that I really love my sleep. I’m probably asleep more hours than I am awake. I had a two hour walk in line for me today to get to the train station that would take me to Budapest, So I wasn’t willing to go out beforehand to explore some more. So this afternoon, I finished off watching the Hunger Games Saga in the Lobby of my hostel drinking coffee. Very exciting I know! (Sorry for the very mundane post today folks!)
However, when it was time to gather my belongings and begin this trek to the train station I decide to fit in as many touristy things as I can along the way. Looking up the directions on google maps, I see that Checkpoint Charlie is pretty much the only thing on route – I suppose one is better than none and it had been recommended to me.
Checkpoint Charlie was a border control section apart of the Berlin Wall. A guard house, that was active for 28 years during the Cold War stands in the

middle of the road. Adjacent to the road is a mini square with historical information explaining details that happened during this time. I think it’s pretty cool that Germany has left little snippets of history dotted all around the city (however it does mean that there’s a lot of walking involved if you refuse to take public transport like me!). But an hour or so later I get to the station and board my train.
As I said, I’m writing this on that very same train. I had food around 4 o’clock this afternoon and the only place to eat at the train station was McDonalds and in all honesty I’ve had enough of that place recently so I begrudgingly waited to get on the train to get something from the restaurant cart. And guess what?! It’s only bloody closed for the whole journey. There’s no place for me to eat for the next 12 hours! *ultimate sad face* However the lovely German lady who is sharing my overnight room with me has only gone and offered me an apple bless her. She doesn’t speak any English but from a quick mime she understands what I’m trying to say (Not going to lie my first thought was of the evil witch in Snow White that tries to give Snow the poison apple…KIDDING, TOTALLY KIDDING haha). But, I’m literally welling up from her generosity. Even though you might say it’s just an apple, remember that this elderly woman didn’t have to offer me a thing. I’m a stranger in her homeland and knows nothing about me. I could have been a murderer for all she knows. It just goes to further show that are truly kind people in this world. I'd love to show you a picture of me and her but she declined the offer, don't think she totally understands the purpose of this blog which is fair enough!
